Hi
I posted this on the comp.os.ms-w....windows board a few days ago
and didn't get any response... I am hoping that someone might shed some
light on what is happening.
Novell network
Windows 2000
Access 97 Sp2
We have a large network ( county system)
Just recently some of the users have been expierencing difficulty
moving files.
working in MS Access whentrying to import a series of objects from one
database to another the larger of the objects wont get moved. The
system seems to "time out" and then there is a message that the path is
no longer available.. These files are not huge in size, it is occurring
in databases that are less than 30KB. I did a "test" I tried to import
a table that has 37 fields the first attempt was the entire table -
failed, the 2nd attempt I removed the last 7 fields the import was
successful, the third attempt I removed the first 7 fields from the
original table- the import was sucessful.
These attempts were from server folders to server folders..When you go
from server to hard drive the impports or copys are sucessful. whhen
you try and go from hard drive to server it fails.
My thoughts are that there is some limit in a buffer that is causing a
time out, or that there is a limit that is being exceeded..
The IS guys claim that they have not tweeked any settings, I am
skeptical about that.
They are as baffled as we are.
Any thoughts
Thanks in advance
Tony
