Can't open a template

I downloaded a home budget template from Mactopia (an .xlt file),
followed directions and moved it into a My Templates folder, but
cannot access it thru Excel. I can see it in Project Gallery, but
when I try to open it, I get an error message that reads:
'Monthly_Home_Budget.xlt' cannot be accessed. The file may be read-
only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the
server the document is on may not be responding. Can anyone tell me
what I'm not doing right? Thx!

Hi,
you forgot to mention which office on which OS do you use. I use 2004.
I have try to download that file and it work fine for me.
The first thing which has occured to my mind is that the file has been
corrupted while downloading.

First, try to download that file again - place it to desktop and when
the download will finished try to run it from that location. Just
click on the file and excel should start to open the file - you should
be able to see it. If this will work. Quite Excel and place the to
your templates. In my case is Application:M$ Office 2004:templates:my
templates. Start excel and pick it in the project galery.

Second thing that crossed my mind was that the operation system
enables to set different acces/permitions to different users.
Sometimes happens that people accidently change the permission of some
folder/file in folder/file info (APPLE+I) and then they are warned
about the priviledges.

Do you use netword drive?
Try the first, first and then let us know.
