can't open application

Hi,

I was wondering if i may get some help here. At first, i have a few
computers connected to the network (say comp1, comp2, and comp3). I have one
application document sit on one of the computers. It's Access file (.mdb).
Now, i don't know if this is to do with the computers or what. I can open it
using comp1 while the application is being used FIRST by comp2. Then, I tried
to open it again using comp3 by just double-clicking it. Nothing happen. No
error message or warning what soever. I don't know why i could double-click
it to open it with comp1. I just did in the same way as i did with comp1. I
understand that we should not open the used or open application. But usually
it would allow you to open it with some warning pop-up message.

Is it to do with how i installed the office 2003?

Thank you in advance

Hard to tell what you have. You may try making sure that the user that
you logged in as on comp 3 is the same user/password combo as the
others. And also compare whether it is all files or all folders, just
certain locations.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your support.

Bob, i'm not sure if this is to do with who logged in on the computer.
Because i have tried to log in as the right user but still got the same
problem. I think it's to do with the computer.

However, something i found here. I checked on the computers that work really
well and compared to the computers that i have troubled with.

when double click on the access application (.mdb).
- computers that i have problem with
the first pop-up windows is "open file - security warning" - Do you want
to open
this file? then it's got two button, "open" and "cancel"

- computers that work
i don't get any of that pop-up message at all but let me access straight
into the
application.

Is this to do with the windows security settings? how do i turn it off or
lower the security so that i don't get that pop-up message?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

What program is the security warning coming from? That will be the
indication of what you need to change.

Thank you Bob for your reply.

It's coming from windows. I wish i could send the photo of the screen
captured to you as a file attachment but there is no facility like that in
this forum.

Here is what is says
Title: Open File - Security Warning
Body: Do you want to open this file?
Name: ...
Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Type: Microsoft Office Access Application
From: ...
followed by "open" button and "cancel" button
footer: While files from the internet can be useful, this file type can
potentially harm your computer. If you do not trust the source, do not open
this software. "what's the risk?"

This access application is not obtained from the internet. I have also
adjusted the macro security from medium to low and still getting this pop-up
message everytime i try to run any access applications.

Thank you in advance

You have loaded some security software on the PC. You may look in the
settings for the software and adjust them, or determine the name of the
security software and ask about it in a group for it.
