Can't open calendar, address contacts or notes

Sorry to be a pest and a nervous nellie, but do I run the risk of causing
further corruption if I run Apple Update combo to try to solve this problem.
The updater will update me to Mac OS X 10.4.3, but I¹m currently running Mac
OS X 10.4.9. Thanks very much for your help. Jim
