Can't open .doc files as attachments from within Mail even though the association is set correctly

Anyone have an answer to this problem.

I can't open any .doc files as attachments in email messages from within Microsoft Mail (Vista) although the file association is set correctly. I can open excel, power point etc but not Word.doc files of any type. If I save the attachment to my desktop then the file opens fine. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit , with Mail and Office Word '07. Any help is apreciated and if I can fix it a big time time saver.

Sorry, but this newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database
product that's part of Office Professional.

You'd be best off reposting your question to a newsgroup related to Windows
Mail (or perhaps one related to Word).
