Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
I have Word 2008 for Mac on a desktop and laptop... both installed from the same disk, different serial numbers.
I have them setup to save files as .doc (94-2004) so if I email files, people who haven't upgraded can read them. If I create a file on the desktop and try to open in on my laptop, I get the Convert file window. When I select "Microsoft Word" I get the message " The XML file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents." It sites Incorrect document syntax Location:1
If I open it as a text file, it is unreadable. But if I send it to someone else who also has Mac 2008, they can open it without problems.
I have downloaded and installed all available updates.
Is there a setting that got messed up on my laptop?
