Can't open documents

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) When I send documents I made on my word for Mac to other computers, sometimes (most of the time) they won't open. I have no idea why this is happening. Also, I can't open any files by opening word and going to file, open. If I do that This big white boxes comes open and word freezes.

Anyone know what is happening

Yes: Your Microsoft Office installation is pretty sick

You have not said what update level you are at, so start by going to the
Apple and Microsoft websites, downloading and applying ALL the updates for
both your operating system and Office.

Then run Disk Utility and do a "Repair Permissions". After that, come back:
we need some more information.

My first question will be "Have you been running any utilities that offer to
'remove unnecessary files"?

The big white box is probably an issue with your Launch Services Database.
The fact that documents sent to other computers won't open is probably an
issue with your email system.

Try sending it in .doc or .rtf. Check and see if they can open the file. (I have a Mac too and have had to do this to send files)

If that works, yell at your recipients

There is no such thing as a copy of Word still running that can't read .docx
these days. All they have to do is download the converter

It is too easy to get sucked in to allowing other people to make their
laziness our problem
