Can't open Entourage... please help!

Hi,

I have a Macbook 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.5.2. I have had
Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac for about 4 months and it now refuses to
launch Entourage and I am requested to relaunch and of course when I do it fails and I
get the report below. I did notice that I could not find the Word application
in the application folder. I don't think I have done anything differently
except that I often have to stop my computer from automatically searching and
downloading the latest and very large update files. If anyone knows how I can
get Entourage back and running, I would most grateful. All the applications in
Office seem to work.

Well firs, you need to update to 10.5.5. Then make sure Office is up to
date too (12.1.2).
If the problem is still there, you can try repairing Permissions on your
Mac (DIsk Utility) but you might have to uninstall and reinstall Office.

sorry to pick this up a month late. i have a problem where entourage wont open, word and excel open but reporta database problem, and database utility says it cannotclose all office programs despite none appearing to be running. will i also have to uninstal/reinstall? and if i do, will my identity files still be there? the reinstal wont delete them or over right them anyway?

The Microsoft Database daemon is a hidden Microsoft Office application. The
best solution is to log out/in with Shift key down to quit all applications.

Using "Remove Office" does not remove your Microsoft User Data folder that
contains your Entourage Identity. HOWEVER, anything can happen during
installs so to be absolutely safe, copy your Identity before using "Remove
Office". This is extremely rare.
