Can't open Entourage, Word database problem

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Entourage won't open because it doesn't recognize my identity, and I desperately need access to my older calendar events. And Word no longer has my projects listed; it says there is a database problem, but I used the DB utility to repair it with no improvements; I even tried reinstalling Office for the zillionth time and that did not help.

In addition, my version is 12.0.0, and I cannot install ANY updates, and I've tried with all of them.

don't know what to try next!

Entourage won't open because it doesn't recognize my identity, and I
desperately need access to my older calendar events. And Word no longer has my
projects listed; it says there is a database problem, but I used the DB
utility to repair it with no improvements; I even tried reinstalling Office
for the zillionth time and that did not help.

In addition, my version is 12.0.0, and I cannot install ANY updates, and I've
tried with all of them.

don't know what to try next!

1) Move your Microsoft User Data folder to the desktop.

2) Manually remove:
* Office 2008 folder in Applications

* the Microsoft folder in Application support

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/

* all receipts in the Receipts folder that start with office2008

/Library/Receipts/

* all Microsoft preferences in your User's Library/Preferences (search
using microsoft on this folder. It will get the com.microsoft.plist files
and the Microsoft folder.

3) Delete and empty the trash.

4) Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and reinstall over your current install. It
install like a combo and can fix some problems. Check to be sure you are at
10.6.1 when you finish.

5) Restart at least twice. Some users say 4 times is better. YMMV

6) Install Office following these directions. Do not open any application
until you are finished with the updates. Check the Microsoft Component
Plugin after each update to be sure you updated.

/Applications/Microsoft Office
2008/Office/MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/update_steps.html>

Open Entourage and let it open in the new Microsoft User Data folder in a
new Identity. Does it open OK. If yes, quit then drag from the desktop your
old Main Identity.

Open Entourage. You should be back in your working Identity.

Let me know if you get updated and if your Identity works or is still hosed.
If it's hosed, what size and how much free space do you have?
