Can't Open Error

I have an error message that is popping up when I try and open an email that
is coming from a user that is using a digital id. The error message says
"CAn't open this item. Your digital id cannot be found on the underlying
security system." Please advise on how to get around this issue.

Yes it is.

Yes it is.

Unless you have a certificate, there's no way you'll be able to decrypt it.
In fact, I have no idea how they could have sent you an encrypted message
without you having given them a public key to use.

There are many references on the Internet that detail how public key
encryption works. See
