can't open Excel 2000 and system hanged

Dear all
My pc has 256M Ram, PIII running in Win98 enironment. But while open excel, it hangs
I've tried reboot pc and not open any other application. The problem still occur
And then I remove and reinstall office 2000. The problem also happened
p.s. Word, outlook can run normally. Thx
