Someone sends me an Excel file as an attachment. When I
click on it and ask it to "Open It" -- I get the
following error message:
Windows cannot find "C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\G3PFUEZL\(filename).xls". Make sure you
typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search
for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
I have a brand new computer running Windows NT, OE6 and
Excel 2003. Part of the problem is that Temporary
Internet Files\Content.IE5 is not under Documents and
Settings\Owner\Local Settings. It is under WINNT\Temp.
Now my old computer would just see that it was an .xls
file and open the damn thing in Excel. Why won't the new
one work that way? (It opens e-mail attachment Word
documents, Adobe documents, etc., just fine). I have to
save it to disk before I can open it, and mostly I just
want to look at it, maybe print it and blow it off. I
have no need to save it.
