Can't open Excel file

Just received by e-mail an Excel file created on a PC. I can preview the file using Quick Look but when I click to open the file, I click on Enable Macros and then nothing happens and it's as if I hadn't opened anything. I've checked under File/Window and the file is not there or hidden.

I've tried to disable the macro but I get a message saying "This workbook contains a type of macro (Microsoft Excel version 4.0 macro) that cannot be disabled". When I click "Yes" after the question is the file from a trusted source, nothing happens either.

The other recipients of this file who have PCs are able to open the file.

Sounds to me like the author of the XLM macros did not allow for the Mac.
With the macro enabled, it is probably trying to do something that the Mac
does not support. The only options are to get to the macro author and ask to
have the macro updated so that it will run on the Mac.
