Can't open file on a PC

DC

Someone has sent me an Excel .xls file that they say works fine on a Mac.
The file was created on a Mac and contains macros orginally written In
Excel 4.
I cannot open the file on my PC.
I don't get an error message but no spreadsheet appears when I open the
file. I can see the file name in the VBA module (VBA Module (xxx.xls)
Microsoft Excel Objects - ThisWorkbook) but the modules are empty - no
macro code.

Any insight, ideas or suggestions?

Hi DC,

A lot depends upon what version of Excel for Windows you are using.
Whatever version it is, be sure it is up to date by visiting
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you are using XL2002 or XL2003 you may need to adjust the preferences
on the security tab in the Macro button to medium and click Enable
Macros when prompted upon opening the workbook

Is it that you open the spreadsheet, but you see an empty space where
it should be in the window? If so, perhaps it *has* opened properly,
but beyond the edge of the window. Go to Window -> Arrange and select
one of the options there to bring it back into the visible space.

If it's not that, then I refer you to other honourable folk. I know
nothing about VBA, macros, etc.
