Can't open files

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Originally this was an issue with mail merge, when I tried to open an excel file I would get a blank open box with nothing in it. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled and now get it while mail merging and when I try to open any kind of file in word.

I hope it lets me show a link, this is what it looks like:

It's getting really frustrating and I would like this fixed.

Re-installing usually makes things worse on a Mac, and I guess it has :)

That picture is part of your Mac's Finder application, it's not produced by
Word. Scroll it to the left so you can see what you are doing. Then
navigate to the folder containing the file you are looking for.

Cheers

As you might have noticed on the picture, there is no way to scroll. I have picked up the window with my mouse and kept moving it over to see if there was anything in the window, but it goes on forever with nothing in it.

Anyone else?

Was Office fully updated before the problem occurred? Have you re-applied
the updates since re-installing? What about OS X -- What is your update
level for it? Once everything is updated run Disk Utility - Repair Disk
Permissions the restart your Mac.
