I installed Office 2007 professional about 3 weeks ago from the X12-30196.exe
and X13-40150.exe downloads. Everything seems to work fine except when I try
to open the Help file in any application I get the message "There is a
problem with one or more installed help files. Please repair your Office
installation and try again." I run Repair and it says it finished
successfully. After a reboot, I get the same message when I try to open Help.
Diagnostics says everything is OK. I uninstalled and reinstalled and got the
same result. I uninstalled, downloaded the install files again and
reinstalled from them and get the same result. I notice that most of the .chm
files in c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1033\ are 0KB in size and
I tried manually deleting that folder and doing the uninstall/reinstall thing
with no change in the results. I'm hoping someone can point out what is
probably the utterly foolish thing I am doing wrong so I can fix this.
