Cant open JPG in Outlook

My email program is Outlook 2002 (10.4712.4219) SP-2.
When I double click a jpg attachment in Outlook I get the
following error message:

"MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
"! The system cannot find the path specified.
OK"

I can open the JPG using a graphics program. I can also
save it to a file or my desktop & open it from there. I
have no problem opening attachments with other
extensions.
Does anyone have the answer?
