Can't open main identity

Because of problems with Word in Office 2004 for Mac I reinstalled
Word from
the CD but then Entourage etc wouldn't open. I have now upgraded from
11.0
to 11.2.0 and then 11.2.1 but when I try to open Entourage I get this
message: "This identity cannot be opened with this version of
Entourage." I
have also tried to import everything into the Apple Mail program but
it also
cannot access Entourage. (I haven't yet upgraded beyond this because I
don't
think I did that earlier and as I am on dial up it will take more than
5
hours.) Any suggestions???

Hi,

this error message simply indicates that Entourage is trying to access a
database that was created in / modified by a version of Entourage later than
the one you are currently using. The database format used by Entourage 2004
was changed by two different updates, so if your database was used in
Entourage 11.3, for instance, you will not be able to open it in any version
of Entourage earlier than 11.3. You will need to apply all the latest
updates (there's the 11.3.3 combo updater, followed by the 11.3.4 security
update) to be able to access your old database again. You can download these
updates on Mactopia <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/> or simply use Microsoft
AutoUpdate in your Applications folder instead.
