Can't open MDB

I'm getting the following error message when trying to
open my mdb:
"The microsoft jet database engine could not find
object "databases". Make sure the object exists and that
you spell its name and the path name correctly"

I find the file and either double click to open or open
access and try to open from file menu and get the above
error.

Any ideas? Is it corrupt? Thanks! Alicia
