Can't open MS Word

I have Word 2000 installed as part of Works Suite. I've
been operating it without problem for some time.
Yesterday, when I double clicked on the MS Word shortcut
on my desktop, MS Word would not open. I restarted the
computer several times and the same problem. All other
programs including MS Access, open without problem.
Today, I uninstalled MS Word and reinstalled it, but it
still will not open. I tried opening a document from
Windows Explorer, and it stilled locked up when the
hourglass appeared trying to open MS Word. HELP!!!

You might have a look at

suggestions: If you got Word as part of Works Suite and also have Office
installed (as it appears from the fact that you have Access), then it would
be a good idea to (a) uninstall Word from Works Suite and reinstall it from
the Office CDs and (b) uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word,
which causes many problems when Word is run freestanding (not started from
the Works Task Launcher).
