Can't open my Excel v.X file after mistakenly hitting command-H

I just spent several hours creating a new spreadsheet in Mac Excel v.X,
service release 1. I am running on OS 10.2.8.

I saved the file and then accidentally hit the command-H key. The file
disappeared from the screen. Then when I clicked on the Excel icon on
the dock, the file didn't reappear as it should.

I restarted Excel, chose Open, clicked on the file, it appears to load
very quickly, there is a small command window that opens and closes
within a split second so I cannot read it. Regardless, the file doesn't
open.

I have restarted my Mac, no change.

I have double-clicked the file icon, same as when I chose Open.

I have selected the file icon, right clicked and chosen "Open" as well
as "Open with", no change.

Tried to open file from within other MS applications, no luck.

Any suggestions about how I can save this file and re-open it so I
don't have to recreate it (it took 6 hours)?

Many thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary-

The keystroke cmd+h is simply the OS command to Hide the current
window/application, but you're probably aware of that. You should have
been able to unhide it simply by going to the Finder or other app menu
and selecting the Show All command. It should not have any permanent
impact on Excel or an Excel file, so something else must be at fault.

When is the last time you Repaired Permissions? Seems like a trivial
thing, but really is a very important aspect of OS X.

If that doesn't help, it could be something more serious, but that may
very well do the trick.

Good Luck |:>)
