Can't Open Notebooks on New Server - "OneNote Needs a Password"

I have a small office and we all store and use notebooks on our
server. We moved all of our data to a new server yesterday, and now
when we try to open the notebooks we get a message that says: "OneNote
needs a password to sync some of your notebooks", and we are unable to
open the notebooks. Interestingly, if we open the notebook through a
mapped drive to the location, we get the error. But, if we navigate
directly to the notebook through the network, it will open with no
error. We are having no other problems with this mapped drive.
Thanks!

You didn't mention your OS, but if we talk about Vista then you may look

2nd try: Are you using WebDAV on your Server ?
There are known issues with Onenote notebooks residing on Web servers:

Please read all the comments.

I don't think I am running WebDAV. I don't even know what that is.
We are not hosting a website on that server. Can you let me know how
to check this out?

WebDAV:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebDAV

If you are not running IIS on that server then WebDAV cannot be the problem.

Sorry, I cannot help you any further.

Bernd

Yes, I looked and I am running IIS on that server, I believe that is
because our exchange server is on the same machine, and we need remote
access for Outlook. Is there no solution for this?

So, I am running IIS, is it possible to be running IIS but not WebDAV, and if
so, will that fix the problem do you think?

Please read the article I gave you before:

http://blogs.msdn.com/david_rasmuss...1-can-t-create-notebooks-on-some-servers.aspx

To be honest: I don't know how to configure WebDAV.
But if you read the paragraph "Background" of the linked article there
must be something like a WedDAV server.

Mmmmh, I googled:

Here is a link that could be of help to verify if WebDAV is running:
