After accepting recommended updates from Forefront Client, I can no longer
open any Office documents on my computer. I get these error messages:
• Word: "The file 'filename.doc' is not available."
• Powerpoint: "Powerpoint can't read 'filename.ppt'."
• Excel: "Unable to read file."
Some of the updates that were loaded include these ones (but there were also
specific updates for each piece of software):
Office 2002/XP Security Update for Microsoft Outlook 2002 (KB946985)
Office 2002/XP Security Update for Office XP (KB944423)
Office 2002/XP Update for Office XP (KB913471)
Office 2002/XP Security Update for Office XP (KB933399)
Office 2002/XP Security Update for SharePoint Team Services (KB911701)
anyone have any ideas about what might have happened? The files are still
fine - I can copy one to a disk or jump drive & open it on another computer,
& can even see the "preview" for ppt documents.
I assume this problem has something to do with the updates, because
everything was working fine before I accepted those.
