Can't open Office XP files

I was using XP Pro and OfficePro for a while and recently
I've purchased a new HD and installed XP Pro on the new
one. Since the I can not open my Office XP files with my
PC. If I copy them to a floppy and open in Ofice XP on
Win 98 everthing is fine but not on my PC.

Error message in Word is "The file <filename> is not
available", in Excel "Unable to read file", in
Powerpoint "Powerpoint can't read <filename>".

I have checked my HD it is OK.

Any help is appreciated.

Do you not have to re install office?
