Can't open old .wps in Word 2007

I have a bunch of old .wps files that are called "WPEntrust Signed
Documents". I have Word 2007 and Word Viewer 2003, but I can't open these
files with either. I have downloaded some conversion patches, but nothing is
working. Is there any way to open these (I would hate to lose all those
files).
