I'm very disappointed in purchasing Excel 2008. I can't open any of my encrypted files. It asks for the passwords and then nothing!

Please help

By encrypted, do you mean files with password protection?

There's no inherent reason that XL08 can't open an XL04 file that was
password protected. I've just done it.

Do you have XL04 still installed to check whether it opens with XL04?

Yes, I mean password protected. I uninstalled XL04 and I don't have the software with me as I am on business trip to reinstall XL04.

Actually I can open any unprotected file. All protected files do not open.

Thanks

Don't know what else to tell you other than to make sure your copy of
Office08 is fully updated.

I have no problem opening protected .xls files.
