Hi All.
I'm trying to repair (or re-install, or remove in
desparate attempts to fix the problem, because repair
doesn't work) Word 2000, but I get this message:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it...."
The Setup log file (Office 2000 Standard Setup (0029)
_MsiExec.txt) has this information in it:
DEBUG: Error 2203: Database: 510094.locale.msp. Cannot
open database file. System error -2147287038
1: 2203 2: 510094.locale.msp 3: -2147287038
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package.
510094.locale.msp
I think I might have created this problem when I zipped,
then deleted 1bed8d.msp, and 19309b2.msp from the
Windows\Installer folder. Since then I put the 2 files
back the way I found them, but that didn't fix the problem.
I can't install Off2K from a CD, or remove Off2K using
Add/Remove programs, because of the same error. I've
deleted the Office folder from the HD, and still the same
error.
Thank you for looking at my posting.
