Which version do you have? Which version does the sender have? And just in
case, are you *positive* it's a Pulbisher file?

Positive it is Publisher & positive Publisher is on my PC! My version is
2000; waiting reply re originator of file - I'll come back when I know.

If the originator has a newer version, they will have to do a Save As and
change the type for you to be able to access it.

The other version is 2003. We'll try your suggestion and call back. Thanks

I am now having exactly the same problem as detailed in my previou
posts on this thread; same 2 PCs involved.
Now, though, doing a Save As in Pub 2000 or Pub 98 is not working an
the same error message appears.
Any other solution please

Robj, welcome to the forums

Can you create, save and reopen a publisher file on your pc?, if so ca
the same file be opened on another pc? why not create a file save it a
2 different versions (98 & 2000) and attach it here so folk can see (o
try to see) what your issues are

Attatchments.

To upload a workbook, click reply then add your few words, scroll dow
past the submit button and you will see the Manage Attatchments button
this is where you get to add files for upload, if you have any troubl
please use this link or the one at the bottom of th
any page

Hi Simon
Creating, saving & reopening a Pub file on my PC is not a problem. A
I explained I am unable to open Pub file created on another PC an
emailed to me; this in spite of the file being saved as 2003, 2000 an
98. Previously the file created in 2003 was saved as 2000 and I coul
then open it. Hence my post; this solution is no longer working. I ca
post a file here created on my PC but don't think that would serve
purpose as opening my own files is not the issue.

Mary - I don't have Norton

The default printer is presumably the one linked to the PC whic
originally created the file. How do I alter the default printer whe
the file is emailed to me if I cannot open the file

The "default printer" means the printer that is set as the default in
your Windows printers control panel, not the printer that is associated
with the publication. i.e. Go to Control Panel, select Printers,
right-click a printer that is not currently the default, and click Set
Default.

Sorry to be obtuse, but as I have only 1 printer there is not anothe
one listed and so I do not have the option to create an alternativ
"default"

You can install the built-in Microsoft Imagesetter or the Color PS for
Commercial Printing. In the printer folder, add new printer, the printers will
be listed in the Generic selections.
