cant open Word and Excel files from earliar versions in offcie 2013

Hi all

when some one send me a file created in earlier versions of office I
cant open them !! it tells me the files are currapted. so what can I
do? the files I create in office 2013 I can open them with no problem.

any suggestions?

You need to install ''Office compatibility pack'
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924074) see the Microsoft link. Thi
'may' be your problem.
