Basic questions first, Marc :) Is your Office installation fully updated
(12.1.2 is current) & have you repaired permissions since doing so?

If [when] the answer to both is Yes, but the problem continues come back
with any additional details - such as what *does* happen when you click the
button, what happens if you double-click the icon instead, and whether it
previously worked. If it has done OK in the past, what else has changed that
might be possibly be contributing/causing the change?

Hi Marc:

IMAP gives me a clue.

Entourage is normally set to "partially download" messages over a certain
size limit (which you can adjust).

It is possible that that setting is too low, or that you are not waiting
long enough for Entourage to download the whole message.

Under those conditions, the computer will make an attempt to open but that
will fail because the rest of the file has not arrived yet.

In Entourage, check in Tools>Accounts>...>Options to see if "Partially
download messages over..." is set.

Cheers

Hi Marc -

In the Applications/Utilities folder there's an OS X program called Disk
Utility. Launch it, select your HD, & on the First Aid page click Repair
Disk Permissions. This should be done after any installations/updates.

Run that, then post back in a single message with your results & restating
your issue. Please describe - step-by-step - what you're doing & what
happens as you do. We need to know exact error message content as well as
what type of files are presenting the problem - in your first message you
referred to Word docs & Excel files but your latest refers to PDFs.
