If the document has been encrypted by Word 2007, Mac Word 2008 should not be
able to open it at all.
It should simply tell you that the document is encrypted and it can't open
it.
If you send the document to someone who has Word 2007 (with the password!)
they will be able to save it as an un-encrypted file for you. If you wish,
I will do that for you. Send it to (e-mail address removed)
Hope this helps
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a
Microsoft Office Word 2007 file with a password from my old computer, and when
I try to put it on my new Mac all I get is a bunch of "EncryptedPackage" and
random symbols through the pages. I do not have my old computer anymore,
neither do I have access to any PC, so how could I decode this message so I
can see the content?
