Can't paste text

Can someone please help me. i'm trying to paste text. I can copy but when
trying to paste the text, paste is greyed out. I tried copying some text in
an instant message and an error message came up stating that I had a
clipboard in use already. Some times past works and sometimes it dosen't.

Does this happen if Word is already running when you copy? Or only if you
copy, then start Word, then try to paste? If you got Word as part of Works
Suite and haven't uninstalled the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word, one
of its nasty habits is to clear the Clipboard on starting Word. You can
either start Word before copying or uninstall the add-in (though Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs). If Works Suite is not the issue, there are
other add-ins and third-party apps that have the same effect.
