Can't place breaks after Endnotes

I am trying to do an insert file after endnotes to place appendices but
insert page/section break is grayed out. Any reason why?

Hi

It may have to do with the way EndNotes works with Word. Did you try using
the EndNote make "transportable" document option?

You are right Dayo. I am using Word's endnote feature. I tried all that you
suggested. Suppress Endnotes box is not available in my document. Then I
tried creating the appendix first then inserting the main document before
it. Endnotes dutifully appeared at the very end of the document again.
Changing endnotes to footnotes didn't help either. What baffles me is why
using master document feature does not work? I should be able to insert
independently formatted documents as subdocuments. Here again the endnotes
appear at the very end of the master document.

Hi Bijan,

What version of word are you using? Word 98?

I don't know much re Master Documents, b/c they are frequently advised
against, see:

Why Master Documents corrupt

How to recover a Master Document

It seems the only way to get around the endnote problem if you can't
suppress endnotes is to manually play with your page numbers and collate the
document after printing.

You could have appendices in a separate file, with page numbers continued
from the main file. I am not sure whether there is a automatic way to keep
the page numbers sequential across files, or whether you will have to put in
a start number after you are done printing the main file.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, perhaps someone else knows some tricks.
