Can't print any documents from Word

I am unable to print any documents from Word. I have no problems printing
from other applications, like Internet Explorer, so I don't think the problem
is with my printer. I can see the document when I use print preview, and the
correct number of pages comes out of my printer, but there are no characters
printed on those pages.

What version of Word is this?

A couple of possibilities occur to me:

a) You've inadvertently formatted all of the text as "hidden", and have set
Word NOT to print hidden text.

b) You've inadvertently formatted all of the text as "white" in color, and
hence, nothing appears.

Given, your symptoms (i.e., that it looks okay in preview), I'd lean towards
the first.

Select a bit of text and choose Format - Font. Is the "Hidden" attribute
checked? If so, then that's your problem. Either you inadvertnetly formatted
it that way, or you've enabled Hidden as part of the formatting of the
default style.

I am using Word 2000.

No, the "hidden" box has no check next to it and the font color is set to
automatic. I've also tried setting it to black, but it doesn't help.

Thanks for trying!

Does this happen with *all* documents, or just some? What if you start Word
using the /a switch? (e.g., create a shortcut icon to start Word, and add /a
after "c:.../winword.exe", e.g.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE" /a

This suppresses loading normal.dot and a number of registry entries. When
you start Word this way, type some text into a document, then print, does
the problem still occur? If not, then take a look here for a permanent
solution:
