A user at a remote site has been able to print from MS Office XP since a new
printer was installed. The user is able to print from IE and Wordpad in
addition to being able to print a test page.
For a quick fix, I told the person to copy and paste from Word to Wordpad
when they needed to print. Because the site is used only 2-3 times per
week, this isn't a significant problem for now.
When the user tries to print from Word or Outlook, a print dialog box
appears without any printer in the printer field. They can scroll down and
select the correct printer; however, whey they try to print, they receive an
error message stating printers are not installed! Going to control panel
shows the printer is installed, it's the default, and it's ready. As I said
earlier, they can print from MSIE/Wordpad and produce a test page.
When I installed the new printer (an old HP color), it would periodically
fail to print unless the "page feed" button was pressed. This is NOT the
problem in this case. Additionally, when I installed the new printer, I
left the old printer drivers in place in case it was needed again. I've
done this in the past without any problems.
Any thoughts? The user has tried all of the help center tips to no avail.
