Can't print from Word X for Mac

I have Office X for Mac. I recently upgraded from OS 9 to OS X
(veersion 10.3.5). I can print from other programs (Stickies, Address
Book -- even Excel or PowerPoint!). When I try to print from Word, the
print job just seems to vanish into the cosmos. I can print from
TextEdit, also. I just created a dummy file with one simple line in it,
so it's not the complex formatting of the file. I can print from OS 9
and from Classic. I'm stumped! Suggestions?

Pay particular attention to the page setup settings. Make sure that
paper size and printer are what you expect.

See if you can print to PDF after selecting the printer that is
misbehaving as your printer of choice. Does the PDF print?

If not, what happens if you set page setup to "any printer" and repeat?

Make sure that you have all the updates to Word X from the Mactopia
page at MS.

It would not hurt to update your Mac OS X to 10.3.8 and check you have
the latest PPD (aka driver) from you printer manufacturer.
