cant print landscape

I am using Office 2003 on Windows XP. I have a HP deskjet 5650 printer.

The problem I have is that I can't print landscape inside Word. I can
print using Excel or anything else but Word will not. Is there a
setting inside Word that will override my printer settings other than
in the print section that I am missing? Anybody got any suggestions?

Under File menu - Page Setup - on Margins tab click Landscape. if you want
word to always use Landscape click the Default button.

Hope this information helps you, let us know!

Yea thanks but had already tried that and even if I set that to
landscape it will still print letter...I can even go in and manually
set my printer to print all landscape and it will still print letter!

I read through the suggestions there but nothing seemed to hit it
exactly. I had already tried to uninstall the printer and reinstall
with the latest drivers but that didn't help. I have several of these
machines with exactly the same setup but this is the only one that is
doing this. Here is an more in-depth description of the issue...I went
to the user's room she was complaining about a missing toolbar in Word.
I added her formatting toolbar back and at this point she told me that
her Word stopped printing landscape. I don't know how long it has been
doing this, she said that it did it that day but who knows...anyway.
There are 2 users that log on to this computer and one said that the
landscape works for her (which it didn't). I don't believe that the
issue is with the printer because Excel works fine.

humm I am going to install a separate networked printer on her machine
to see if I get the same thing, so that I can rule out the printer.

I just installed a different printer (different model) and get the same
result. I opened a new Word doc typed some garbage hit file, print,
changed my printer, went to settings, clicked landscape and it came out
portrait....?

While checking the printer settings through File - Print. What was the
default setting? Was it Landscape? If yes, then you are not doing the things
in right way.

Click - File - Print - Properties - (If already landscape) then click
Portrait and then Landscape again.

Furthermore, check the following article.
