Can't protect document after closing/opening

J

Joe

I have created a doc with form fields on it (Word 2002).
After closing it and opening it again, I have lost the
ability to protect it. When I try this via the Tools
Menu, "Protect Doc" is grayed out. When I bring up the
Forms tool bar, the protect button is also disabled. Am I
missing something here? I could protect/unprotect when I
was initially creating it...and when I closed/saved it, it
was not in protect mode. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know what would have caused that, not having heard of it before.
Try inserting the document into another document using Insert>File and see
if it restores the normal behaviour.

Hi Joe,

I think I may have answered this in another group; or maybe
it was just another person with a similar question. But the
cause is probably that these aren't form fields, but fields
from the CONTROLS TOOLBOX. And macro security is set to
"High".
