Can't re-install Office Professional 2007

For some time I realized my scheduled updates were not installing. Based on
advice from the forum that deals with Windows Updates, I uninstalled all
versions of Office. When I attempted to re-install Office Pro 2007 (an
upgrade), I then found that I needed to re-install Office Pro 2003 (also an
upgrade). Fortunately, I still had my CDs to do that. However, now when I
attempt to re-install OP 2007, I get the following screen: "Setup can't find
a version of Microsoft Office on your computer..." At this time I do indeed
have OP 2003 installed and working--all versions have been purchased.
Needless to say, this is most frustrating and especially so since I have
projects that have been created with OP 2007 that I wish to continue to work
with in that format.

It appears that the updates issues have been resolved--at least they
succesfully updated last night. While I am not totally computer savvy, I am
able to follow explicit directions if necessary. That being said, I think it
most important that when one is given directions to alter their
computer/system that they are made aware of everything they may need to have
or do after making those changes. I make that comment based on the sinking
feeling I had after deleting Office 2007 and realizing I had to have the
previous version. Since I have been using a computer I have continued to
upgrade computers, software, etc., and it just seems to get more difficult
rather than easier, but I will no doubt continue to do so.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in resolving this issue.

Regards,
Katy

You didn't need to install Office 2003. When installing Office 2007 you
would have got a prompt to insert the qualifying media - in this case Office
2003 - CD/DVD into the optical drive.

Try uninstalling Office 2003, and just inserting the Office 2007 DVD.

I have un-installed Office 2003 as you suggested, and since I don't have
your email to refer to, I hope I'm responding in the correct place.
Unfortunately, I am not able to re-install Office 2007 as you suggested. I
get the following message: "The path you have chosen does not point at a
qualify upgradeable product." Click "Retry: or "Cancel" to quit setup.

If I am not doing something at that point, please tell me. I don't see that
I can do anything other than select the appropriate drive with the 2003 CD in
it. Again, when I upgraded to 2007 (Feb 2, 2007) I would have been using
2003. Thank you again for your time and understanding.

When it told you that, did you remove the Office 2007 disk and insert the
2003 disk and follow the instructions?

Hello Tom,

Yes, I did. Prior to hearing back from you I had reinstalled OP 2003, and
when I went to uninstall it (Control Panel) it appeared that OP 2007 was
there. I then went into the program files and then Microsoft Office, and
found Office 12, which appears to be OP 2007. Clicking on an icon within
that folder (Excel), I got the message: "Only one instance of setup may be
run at a time."

I have done nothing further and will wait to hear back from you as to the
next step.

I do apologize for what must be very frustrating--those of you who have the
expertise are doing a great job, and I certainly appreciate not only your
time, but your patience and understanding!

Thanks!
Katy
