Can't read word 2007 PDF's on Linux

Hello,
If you create a document in Word 2007 and use the MS add-on to publish
the document to a PDF, it does not open properly on Linux (RHEL4 for
example). I have tried all the built in Linux viewers and none of them were
able to open it properly.

The error message from Gnome Ghost view (the Gnome post script viewer),
is: There was an error while scanning the file <filename>
****This file has a corrupted %%EOF marker, or garbage after the %%EOF.
****The file was produced by Microsoft

This will happen if you just create a new blank Word document and
plublish it, but if you have lots of text and pictures you won't be able to
view all the text or pictures, so this is not just an issue of an annoying
error dialog but the file is actually unreadable.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon,

I can't speak to the Linux build of GSView available through
http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/
but with the required underlying Ghostscript filesfor that version the
Windows build opens the Word generated PDF files for viewing.

I don't recall the update history/currency of the The Gnome Ghostview
version, but you may want to test on a different machine or with a different
viewer as well.
