all of the sudden i cant receive email in outlook 2003, but i can
actually send it. when i press send/receive, it says:

Name
pop.gmail.com - sending completed
pop.gmail.com - receiving processing

and its like that for a while until it says:

Task 'pop.gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F): 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues,
contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

How do I fix it so i can receive emails again?

This could also be caused by antivirus scanning your incoming and outgoing
email. Turn off that scanning - the anti-virus software should still protect
you by preventing a program containing a virus from running.

I don't use Outlook for receiving/sending gmail but are you sure both
incoming and outgoing mail servers are named pop.whatever?

You may try reading on the following articles and see if one fits:

Another possible thing to look at is if there is a LinkSys router.
I am quoting from another post regarding the same error message:

"I took your mention of the LinkSys router and
checked mine -I enabled MTU at 1492 and disabled "Block
WAN request" and my problem has vanished."

Yet another possible:

You may need to use the ISP's SMTP server to send messages.

For example if you use Cox to access the internet, but use Earthlink for
mail: INCOMING POP: mail.earthlink.net
OUTGOING SMTP: smtp.cox.net
