PROBLEM: On my new laptop I cannot reliably send and recieve from the local
SBC (Yahoo) POP/SMTP servers.
CONFIGURATION:
Toshiba Notebook
WinXP SP2,
Outlook 2003 SP1,
Symantec AV Corp Ed (current),
Zone Alarm (current)
ERROR MESSAGE:
"Task 'SBC Yahoo - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection
to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your
server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'"
More often than not, I can send & receive when first starting Windows, but
after an apparent successful connect, later connections immediately fail with
the following error message:
MORE INFO:
(1) Exiting Outlook and restarting doesn't usually fix this, but restarting
often does. While I cannot access the server on my new machine, other
computers can connect easily, using the same settings.
(2) Things I've double and triple-checked the settings and retyped to no
avail:
Server names, login name and password, Outbound server settings.
I've also created new accounts in Outlook in case the old account setting
had somehow gotten corrupted and lengthened the timout settings.
(3) Turning off my local AV and software firewall didn't seem to make a
difference, and the other machines which have no problems go through the same
Linksys hardware router. The other machines which are OK run Outlook XP on
Windows XP SP2 (same AV and firewall)
(4) Before my old laptop crashed, I ran essentially the same configurations
(XP SP2, Office 2003....) on it with no problems -- however the install order
was likely different (previously upgraded SP2 on top of Office, whereas I
first upgraded to SP2 before installing Office on my new one)
OUTLOOK LOG:
The OPMLog.log file doesn't have any screaming errors that I see. Lots of:

OTHER ACTIONS:
Search of MSKB
(Partially led by the MSKB...) I checked the Linksys site and tailored the
MTU settings.
MUSINGS:
I keep wondering if my connection is still being kept open or something like
that.
