can't remember how to set up formula

Hi, I am a computer dodohead who can use access well. in excel i have 4
columns, and each entry in column C needs to be subtracted from the
corresponding cell in column D. Sorry to be so obtuse, but can someone just
tell me how to subtract it?

I'd set the dang thing up myself in access but it's for a
developmentally-disabled care home that already has the first 3 columns set
up. We just need to keep a running total in column D.

Many thanks, pc (petite.cherie, no pc expert!)

Hi
you may post some example rows of your data b ut for subtractin simply
enter something like
=D1-C1
in cell E1

Can you post and example of exactly what you are trying to do

If you just want to subtract the value in column D from the value i
column C then do as Frank said
=D1-C
in cell E

But if you want a 'running total' as you put it, it will be a bi
different
