Can't remove MS Office Premium and install ontop of

Hello all,
Completely my fault, but if anyone could help I'd be real
grateful. I kept having a dialog pop up every now and
then "About to install..." and couldn't figure out which
product was causing it. Found something that I thought
was close to my problem which suggested modifying the MS
Office Premium registry, I did and now it seems when I go
into the ADD/REMOVE programs I can not remove MS Office
2000 Preium SR-1a, the Remvoe button is greyed out. I've
tried to install on top but get message "A file or program
exists... use Control Panel...ADD/REMOVE...". So I can't
repair or re-install my MS Office. Any ideas?
