Can't resize, maximize, or close

Has anyone ever seen this.

Using Mac os 9.2 & Excel: Mac 2001. I have 2 copies of a spread sheet on a
zip disk that I use for both Mac & Windows machines. One copy is for use
only on PC's and the other is for Mac's. I don't know whether or not the
Mac copy has ever been opened on a PC.

Today I opened up my Mac copy on a Mac at work and I couldn't resize it and
the maximize and close buttons didn't appear in the title bar of the spread
sheet window. I clicked the "New" button on the Standard tool bar to open
up a new blank spread sheet and resize worked and all the buttons were on
the title bar.

Is this a setting that can be changed on each individual file? Could the
file be corrupted from being opened on a PC? Or, is this some sort of bug
or glitch?

Thank you for any help that anyone can offer,

Sounds to me like the file is protected. Those buttons disappear if the
windows are protected. Try tools-protect and then unprotect the workbook.

Bob,

Thanks for the help. I forgot to mention in my original post that it was
protected and I did unprotect it. When I unprotected it, I was still unable
to close, maximize, or resize. The one thing I didn't do was unprotect it,
then close it, and then reopen it unprotected. Maybe that might make a
difference. I will try that and see if it has any affect.

Thanks again,

Are you sure you unprotected the workBOOK in addition to the workSHEET?
