Can't save a paint file as paint file

Hi. I am having trouble saving a paint file as a actual
paint file. When I browse thru other options, the paint
only lets me save stuff in My Pictures.
I am using Windows XP pro office
my e-mail address is (e-mail address removed)

I don't understand the problem or how it relates to Office.
If you are saving from MS Paint, then you have a number of file format
options, plus the ability to save to different folders. The default folder
"My Pictures" does not restrict your choice of file format.s

Windows and Office are separate entities.
