Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Excel will happily import a unicode csv file created by another program (in this case "Export Address Book" which provides Unicode 8 or 16 export options)...
But, it seems to completely lacks the ability to export a unicode CSV file. It has a "UTF-16 Unicode Text" option which seems to produce a tab-deliniated .txt file, but that is of no use to me. Given how similar that is to a "UTF-16 Unicode CSV" file... Why can't it do this!??
Moreover, if i save a .xlsx file that has mixed unicode characters (Chinese characters in my case) as a .CSV file - the resulting file causes excel 2008 to crash when I double-click the saved files to open it. When i open the same file in TextEdit, it works fine, but the Chinese characters are all screwed up. Seems like they might be saved as UTF-8, but still all messed up and unreadable/fixable.
Please help!
