CAN'T SAVE AS "DOC" FILE

R

Raz

I can't seem to be able to save a Word 2000 document as a DOC file. When I
try to save a document, it is saves as either Wordpad, DOCX or in Rich Text
Format formats. I have tried to save, or to convert these files to DOC file.
When I open these newly saved files, I get a lot of gibberish.

I have updated software for the Word 2000 more than once, as well.

Can somebody help me to solve this problem.

Thanks

Hi Raz,

If your system is showing .DOC as a Wordpad file then it may be that the registration for that extension has shifted. From
Start=>Run try typing
Winword /R

If that doesn't clear things, you may want to do a repair/reinstall of Office from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel,
especially if you can't reopen .RTF or .DOCX files with the Office 2007 compatibility pack installed, and if Windows is up to date
with updates. In Word's Tools=>Options=>General if you turn on
[x] Confirm conversions at open
and then use File=>Open to open the files does Word see them as the expected file type?
