Can't save as native .docx

I created a document and saved it as .doc because, after losing a few files
due to coruptness, I believed it was more stable. Well I tried saving the
..doc created in word 2007 as .docx but it still thinks it's a .doc as I get
the compatibility checker window. No mater, saving as new file name,
renaming, nothing allows me to open this .docx file in the new .docx format,
it says [compatibly mode] no matter what I do or how I save it.

Go to Word Options, Save tab and change the option to 'Save files in this
Format' and select Word Document (8.dotx)..
