Can't save MS Office 2003 documents to new CD-R(s). Any ideas?

I have a new Compaq computer w/Windows XP and MS Office 2003. I am trying to
save documents to a CD-R (new) and keep getting error messages that state
anything from "E:\ is not accessible." to "Incorrect Function." to "You do
not have access to the 'E:\' Folder. See your administrator for access to
this folder." This is a home computer used only by me.

I appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

Do not open Office files directly from, or save Office files
directly to, removable media (including CDs). Instead, modify
the Office files on your hard drive, then when you have closed
the files and Office applications, use your CD mastering software
to copy the files from your hard drive to the CD.
